RB Aaron Stecker had 5 carries for 35 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns.
The Bucs beat the Texans 34 to 3 Thursday night in the Bucs' final pre-season game of the year. The first team players didn't play more than one series, which gave the Bucs a lot of time to evaluate newer talent. The Bucs' defense, whether it was the first string or backups, had very little trouble handling the Texans' offense. The Texans had only 9 first downs, 62 yards rushing and only 66 yards passing for the entire game. The Bucs had 24 first downs, 169 yards rushing and 165 yards passing. Shawn King handled most of the quarterback duties for the night. He went 13 for 17 for 146 yards and 1 touchdown with no interceptions. This performance was by far his best performance this pre-season. Not only did his passes look sharp and crisp, he also did a good job in hitting the open receiver downfield and not relying only on just dump offs and short passes. King turned in a good pre-season as a whole. Overall he had a 73% completion rate. He went 46 for 63 for a total of 439 yards in 5 pre-season games.

Aaron Stecker also had a big night, rushing five times for 35 yards and two touchdowns. He ran with speed and power and looked extremely quick in the second quarter when he ran the ball in for a 25-yard touchdown. The Buccaneers have really put together a good stable of backs with running backs Pittman, Jones and Stecker and full backs Alstott and Cook. This is by far the deepest the Buccaneers have ever been in the backfield.

One of the highlights of the evening was that Martin Gramatica was back and appeared to be healthy. He made good on two field goals. The first was for 23 yards, but the second was a very impressive 56 yard field goal with time running out in the second quarter. If there were any questions about his health, that kick definitely ended all questions.

The Buccaneers looked good this pre-season. It looks like they are picking up where they left off last year. The first game against the Eagles in Philadelphia will prove to be a good test of how far they have come. My prediction is Buccaneers 27, Eagles 13.
